FELLOWSHIP AND INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

WORLD FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM AT CSEAS 

Center for Southeast Asian Studies (CSEAS), Indonesia is pleased to announce the World Fellows Program. The selected Fellows will spend 1-6 months in residence at CSEAS during which time they will work on research project.

The World Fellows Program is intended to benefit mid-tier to senior-tier career professionals looking to improve their research competence. Preferred candidates will have a minimum of a master’s degree and a proven ability to conduct independent and objective social scientific policy research. They must display relevant experience; examples include a strong background in academia, government, the military, non-profit work or the private sector. All applicants must be sponsored by their employing organization. Candidates are welcome from all countries in the World.

Applicants may focus their research on any substantive policy area that CSEAS does work on, including sustainable development, environmental affairs, maritime issues, regional economic integration and other related international affairs and development issues.

While in residence, World Fellows will be provided with office space to conduct their research and writing, computing and telephone access, and administrative support. World fellows will be paired with a CSEAS researcher who will assist them for networking and outreach within CSEAS and in the broader policy communities of Jakarta and other parts of Indonesia.

Applications

A complete application package will include:

  • One page candidate biography plus photo;
  • curriculum vitaeor resume highlighting the candidate’s education, work experience, and other relevant particulars including research languages and areas of functional expertise (not to exceed three pages);
  • A two-page description of the proposed topic of inquiry and research plan, including sources of funds for funding research (such as travel costs and data collection costs).
  • A statement from the candidate’s proposed sponsoring organization (employer) committing to fund the fellow while in residence at CSEAS.

INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

1.Graphic Design Officer (GDO)

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Create design for the Center’s publication such as factsheet, brochure, posters, banners, booklet, leaflet, report, and many more based on knowledge of layout principles and aesthetic design concepts
  • Create design or illustration including high quality infographic, creative ad, or motion graphics to help improve visual images in the Center’s social media channel
  • Provide design support and image editing support as needed

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Good command of English
  • Ability to use various design software particularly the Adobe Suite including InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and CorelDraw
  • Of necessity are creativity, originality, fluency of ideas, information ordering and problem solver
  • Demonstrable ability to work under a tight schedule and deliver timely and quality materials
  • Creative self-starter who is comfortable with both taking initiative and working in collaboration.

 

2.Digital Media Officer (DMO)

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Generate and update content on the website
  • Create banners, images, posters etc for display on the website (using products like Photoshop)
  • Design website promotions and online campaigns
  • Produce short video/animated gifs for web use
  • Investigate and report any operational/technical issues arising
  • Plan, define and implement website changes and functional improvement
  • Develop template for policy brief series

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Computer literate and advanced skill in Multimedia design, programming, and digital imaging
  • Strong visual design skills (good sense of balance, grid, color, typography, etc.)
  • Proficiency in HTML, HTML5, After Effects, Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, CMS tools, Java Script, or other Web Design
  • Previous experience of website development and digital media production
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite preferred

 

3. Program Officer (Duration min 3 months)

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Research for program development and strategic planning
  • Assist Project Coordinator in developing and conducting program/projects
  • Write event notice and report.
  • General office support and other administrative tasks

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Fresh graduate or currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program focusing on International Relations, Social Sciences,and Economic Development.
  • Interest in economic, social-cultural and politicsand security in southeast asia
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly , MS Word, MS Excel and MS Powerpoint
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills in English
  • Strong inter-personal and communication skills
  • Strong initiative, hard-working, willingness to perform a variety of duties
  • Proven organizational skills and attention to detail
