Biography

Arisman previous academic leadership roles at the State Islamic University (UIN) Jakarta include 5 years held position as Director for International Program Faculty of Economics and Business,The State Islamic University (UIN) Jakarta, Deputy Director for International Office UIN Jakarta for 3 years, and Director for International Program at Faculty Social and Political Sciences UIN Jakarta for 2 years. In 2007 he got a scholarship from AUSAID for fellowship program (Endeavor Award Scholarship) at University of Western Sydney.

Associate Profeesor at Department of Development Economics, Faculty of Economics and Business, The State Islamic University (UIN), Jakarta.His academic background in Public Policy,Development Economics and Environmental Economics. His teaching courses are Environmental Economics, Economic of Development, Asian Economy (ASEAN and East Asia). Arisman has extensive experience in curriculum development and as a peer reviewer of teaching and research programs at The State Islamic University (UIN) Jakarta.

Teaching and research supervision positions in universities in Indonesia including Faculty Member at The State Islamic University(UIN) Jakarta and Adjunct Lecturer at University of Indonesia and University Paramadina,Visiting Lecturer at Prince Songkhla University, Thailand and University of Western Sydney, Australia.

Arisman has been involved in various research projects and consultancies to ASEAN, United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the European Union(EU), Danish International Development Agency(DANIDA), German Development Agency(GIZ), and the International Labour Organization (ILO).

Arisman has provided policy advice and professional training to a broad range of government and local government, business and civil society organizations in Indonesia as well as ASEAN Countries. He has advised ASEAN countries on a range of multi-disciplinary development issues.  Visiting Fellow at ASEAN Focus Group (Strategic Advisory Consultant), Sydney, Australia.

Previously, Senior Researcher for KPPOD (National Committee of Monitors for Regional Autonomy) in Indonesia, review the implementation of regional autonomy in Indonesia. and Senior Advisor for Member of Parliament Republic of Indonesia at Commission X (Youth, Tourism and Culture)

Currently, He held the position of Executive Director of Center for Southeast Asian Studies (CSEAS), Indonesia. His current research projects include plastic waste management and circular economy in municipalities across Indonesia, Marine Environmental Issues in Southeast Asia region, Waste Management and Urban Development, Sustainability.
