Bernardo Bertolucci, whom passed away on Monday in the age of 77, has gotten acclaim that is widespread their years of filmmaking, winning Oscars, Golden Globes, while the first-ever Honorary Palme d’Or Award during the Cannes movie Festival last year.

But one element of their profession was the topic of increasing scrutiny in the past few years: a rape scene in Bertolucci’s 1972 movie final Tango in Paris.
